This program offers a comprehensive and enriching exploration of sexual intimacy in couples therapy, designed to equip therapists with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively address sexual challenges and help couples reconnect on a deeper level. Grounded in evidence-based models and theories, this training will provide a multifaceted understanding of the factors that contribute to sexual disconnection, as well as practical strategies for fostering intimacy and reigniting passion in long-term relationships.
Participants will delve into the biopsychosocial model of sexual functioning, gaining a nuanced understanding of how biological, psychological, and social factors intertwine to influence sexual desire and response. Through discussions and case studies, therapists will learn to identify the causes of sexual disconnection in couples, including individual concerns, relationship dynamics, and societal influences. Low sexual desire in couples will be conceptualized through the lens of evidence-based practices, like Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method. Program participants will learn how to integrate these models with sex therapy interventions and be provided with strategies for treating low sexual desire within the relational framework.
This program is designed to empower practitioners to create a safe and supportive space for couples to explore their sexual needs, enhance their communication, and cultivate a more fulfilling and passionate connection.
Zoom link will be available on course page in “My Courses” upon event registration.
This program, when attended in its entirety, offers 2.0 CEs for Psychologists, 2.0 IL CEUS for Counselors and Social Workers, or 2.0 BBS California CEUs for LPCCs, LPSWs, and LMFTs.
